Mosaic at George Bolton Swimming Centre

An institution of the City of Burnside since 1966, the George Bolton Swimming Centre has long been woven into the fabric of Burnside community life. For nearly six decades, the pool has been the backdrop to countless childhood summers, school carnivals and family picnics

Almost everyone can recall a story connected to GBSC, the joy of your first swimming lessons, the refreshing relief from a 40-degree day, or that one time you got incredibly sunburnt.

Finn is a Burnside local with a rich history at the pool. As a Year 7 student in 2014 at Burnside Primary School, Finn was part of the cohort that created the vibrant ocean mosaic that still brightens the wall beside the toddler pool. Today, more than a decade later, he has come full circle, serving as one of GBSC’s dedicated lifeguards and helping to keep the next generation of swimmers safe.

If you would like to see the mosaic for yourself or enjoy a swim in the beautiful waters of the George Bolton Swimming Centre, the 2025/26 season concludes on Sunday 26 April 2026. For information on swimming lessons, lap lane availability, AquaFit or many of the other activities at George Bolton Swimming Centre, visit our website for opening hours and plan your next trip.
