After six years of good times and thousands upon thousands of laps, it is time for us to say farewell to the pump track. As per a Council Resolution, the pump track has been sold and has found a new home with the South Australian Tourism Commission. The track will feature in future SATC events, including at the Tour Down Under Village in Victoria Square in January 2026.
Want to get one last lap in and say farewell? You can find the pump track at Penfold Park, with its last day at this location to be Wednesday 7 January.
Thank you to everyone who has made the pump track such a success since 2020. Here is just a sample of some of our favourite feedback from over the years:
- "We LOVE the pump track!! It is the most fabulous community-building, endorphin inducing, skills improving contraption. Please keep it here!! Kids are using it DAILY & they’re all absolutely LOVING it!"
- "It is the most awesome thing ever. It’s a great place to improve my bike skills and hang out with some crew from the local area. I’ve never seen so many young kids outside in Burnside. Overall it’s awesome to have some more facility for youth because it felt as though we were lacking them."
- "It’s really good and it is the best place on earth."

Open from sunrise to sunset everyday.
BYO bikes, skateboard, roller skates, scooters, balance bikes etc.
Safety stuff – some equipment is not suitable for use (3 wheels, go-karts, motorised equipment, bikes with training wheels), wear protective gear and helmet, keep distance between riders, daylight hours only, slippery when wet, parent/guardian supervision required.

History
On 12 November 2019 Council resolved to purchase a portable pump track and conduct a 12 month rotating trial across four locations: Civic Centre (cnr Portrush Road and Greenhill Road); Newland Reserve, Erindale; Miller Reserve, Linden Park; Kensington Park Reserve, Kensington Park.
The #rideburnside trial has now concluded. The track is now in storage awaiting a Council decision on its future.
A report was presented to Council at a meeting on 13 April 2021 on the results of the trial and the potential for introducing new locations for the track in the future. Two new locations for the pump track include Langman Recreation Reserve in Burnside, and Penfold Park in Magill.
