Plan for the Future - Have Your Say
Hazelwood
Park is an iconic State Heritage listed public open space. To ensure the Park
continues to reflect community values and contribute to people’s health,
happiness and wellbeing it is important that a Management Plan is created. The
Plan can help to conserve and protect as well as rejuvenate this important
community space.
Last
year over 300 people responded to a call for ideas on Hazelwood Park. The ideas
and views expressed have now been developed into a suggested draft vision, four
management principles and seven protection and rejuvenation opportunities.

The City of Burnside has a responsibility to conserve and maintain this State Heritage listed park now and into the future. The draft Hazelwood Park Management Plan (HPMP) is a guide for how this conservation and maintenance will be undertaken.
This draft plan will enable Council to define and develop vegetation management plans; write technical guidelines to manage and preserve the elements of the park for the future; undertake detailed tree value and risk assessments; and, identify opportunities to enhance and preserve existing park elements and plan for future use.
Extensive community consultation has been undertaken over the past six months including a city wide survey of Burnside residents, an open day at the park, and a second survey to further explore ideas and community opinions. From this feedback a draft HPMP has been developed.
